How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved with Special Olympics for 9 years.             

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I began as a Summer Student and started volunteering about 6 years ago. I've learned so much from my powerlifting athletes over the years, and am so fortunate to be able to get to coach this program - especially when they like to overshare (lol)!

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I'm looking forward to the full process and getting to see our athletes through the full competitive cycle and see how much they can develop, both on and off the platform!

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My first Special Olympics Canada Games was probably my favourite SO moment! It was such an amazing experience to see our athletes be able to compete in that environment for the first time and to see all of the passion and emotions that come with it.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

Although I have had a few different experiences at Special Olympics Canada Games, this will be my first in a coaching position. I am excited to get to spend a lot more time with our athletes throughout this process and to be able to continue to develop stronger relationships with them while also helping them grow in their sport.
