How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 12 years.

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I first started Special Olympics when I was 7 or 8 years old. I wasn't much into sports and I didn't know how to be a part of a team. Special Olympics has given me lifelong friends, great coaches and staff that believe in me. Special Olympics lets me be myself and has given me great experiences while attending Summer Games.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

Special Olympics has given me more self-confidence in myself and in my skills when I play a sport.

What other sports do you participate in?

I also participate in Bocce and Bowling.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

Participating in Special Olympics has taught me to be a team player and help my teammates.  It has taught me to push my limits both physically and mentally, and be the best that I can be.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I'm looking forward to experiencing this great opportunity with my fellow teammates/ friends.

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My favourite Special Olympics moment was when I was part of Team PEI Basketball in 2022, at the Special Olympics Provincial Summer Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. It was the first time PEI had a basketball team enter and we came home with GOLD.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

I feel privileged to be chosen to be part of Team PEI 2026. I have worked hard over the years improving my skills, and I want to represent PEI the best I can.
