SO Team BC 2024 figure skating coat of arms
Special Olympics Team BC 2024 Figure Skating Coat of Arms

The Special Olympics BC 2024 Training Squad features nine talented figure skaters from SOBC – Port Alberni, Richmond, Surrey, and Vancouver, supported by four superstar coaches from Vancouver and Surrey. The team truly made the most out of the multiple training camps and practices they held  over the past nine months, as these were excellent opportunities for skill development and team bonding!

Comprised of National Games veterans and first-timers, the figure skating team is a diverse and keen group of athletes who all have a common goal of doing their best while enjoying the moment on the national stage.

β€œI see it as a chance for them to be free and let go of other challenges they may encounter,” says Head Coach Jessica Chapelski. β€œIt's a chance to be celebrated for their hard work and talents.”

Team motto

The blades we skate, shall rise with honour and grace.

Team goals

  1. Improve ourselves as skaters and as people.
  2. Supporting each other, no matter how experienced we are.
