How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I started in 2011 with swimming.

How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?

Since joining Special Olympics I have had the chance to experience a variety of different sports and to travel to places I never thought I would have visited. The movement has opened a lot of doors for me outside of sports too. I have become a volunteer within Special Olympics.

How have you been preparing yourself for competition?

I work on my training at least five times a week. My goal is to do my personal best and bring home some medals to Canada and my hometown!

What is the biggest challenge you've overcome in your life?

My greatest challenge was working through gaining more confidence in myself.  As an Indigenous male growing up in foster care, I would have never believed you if you told me I would be representing my country at the World Games in Russia. Thank you to my supportive family, coaches, friends and community for believing in me and helping me gain that confidence within myself.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am proud of the vast skills I have learned throughout sport and I am proud of the medals I have won to date.

What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?

Special Olympics has provided me with many new experiences; from making new friends, new sports and new places to visit. Going to the World Games makes me feel proud of where I am today.
