Long Term Athlete Development

Special Olympics Newfoundland & Labrador is not just for adults! Special Olympics is about creating opportunities for individuals with an intellectual disability to be Active for Life - leading to a healthier life with benefits such as adopting healthy eating habits, a social group, and of course increased physical literacy.

Official Sports and Rules

In order to create an environment that is beneficial for everyone involved, on both a competitive and personal level, Special Olympics has taken great care in developing our rules and our process for placing each athlete in the appropriate group for competition (a process called divisioning).  This way, every athlete is able to participate and benefit from being active.
