Special Olympics PEI Received $25,000 Donation from PEI Mutual Insurance Company
Special Olympics PEI's Executive Director, Charity Sheehan and Athlete Leader, Emily Craig were recently at PEI Mutual Insurance Company to celebrate the company's 31st year of supporting Special Olympics. Emily had the opportunity to meet with some of the Directors, Agents and Staff of PEI Mutual to offer her personal thanks, on behalf of all athletes, volunteers and coaches, for PEI Mutual's recent $25,000 donation to Special Olympics PEI.
Emily also had the opportunity to share the impact of this support with representatives from PEI Mutual. Emily shared stories from competing in the sport of Basketball last summer at the Special Olympics Nova Scotia Provincial Summer Games. This was extra special for Emily and her teammates as this was the first time in recent history that PEI had a Basketball team compete at Provincial Games. Emily mother, Pearl, who was in the stands for the Gold medal games, shared her experience of watching the nail biting finish, as the score remained tied at 19 all with only minutes to go. Their skills and preparation paid off though, earning Team PEI a Gold medal!
Speaking about the partnership, Craig Noonan, CEO of PEI Mutual Insurance Company said:
In reflection on the long standing commitment from PEI Mutual, Charity Sheehan, Special Olympics PEI’s Executive Director, added:
As Special Olympics PEI's Founding Partner, PEI Mutual Insurance Company is truly a champion of Special Olympics athletes, like Emily, in PEI. This year's donation brings the collective total donated to $375,500.
