Jackie brings a unique perspective to Special Olympics PEI's Board as she is both the parent of a Special Olympics athlete and a former education.  Jackie worked for 30+ years with the English Language School Board.

After over 30 years supporting my daughter as a Special Olympics athlete, I was happy to volunteer some time with SOPEI. I hoped to bring the perspective of a parent as well as former educator. I have great respect and appreciation for the organization.

Jackie's favourite Special Olympics memory comes from watching her daughter, Janet Charchuk, compete at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria. Seeing Janet win a gold medal in snowshoeing, as a member of Special Olympics Team Canada, was a special moment. Reflecting more broadly, those Games gave Jackie a greater appreciation for the Special Olympics movement as a whole.

Those games also gave me a greater appreciation for Special Olympics worldwide positively impacting health and inclusion everywhere.
