Special Olympics PEI, Volunteer, Marshall Ryan

Meet Volunteer, Marshall!

QUESTION: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS?

Answer: This is my first summer volunteering with Special Olympics PEI.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS?

A: I am a program volunteer with the Kings County Golf program.

Q: WHAT FIRST BROUGHT YOU TO VOLUNTEERING WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS?

A: I was chatting with Jamie Matheson, who I know through the Montague Fire Department. Knowing that Jamie is a long time volunteer with Special Olympics PEI, one day I asked if he would ever need any help with the Golf program. When Jamie said yes I was absolutely up for it!

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT VOLUNTEERING WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS?

A: I love seeing the athletes trying out a new sport. It is great to see the athletes so happy.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT SIGNING UP AS A VOLUNTEER?

A: It is definitely worth your while! I know first hand that all of the athletes would love seeing you at programs. Not to mention, an extra set of volunteer hands is always appreciated.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FUTURE GOAL VOLUNTEERING WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS?

A: I would like to continue volunteering with Special Olympics PEI for as long as I can!

Thank you, Marshall! And thank you to our 48 Summer Program volunteers. It is because of our dedicated volunteers that the programs offered by Special Olympics PEI are possible. If you would like to make a difference in your community, learn more about becoming a volunteer today!
