Record Breaking 2025 Pick-a-Chick Raffle Results
On Sunday December 21st we hosted our annual Pick-a-Chick raffle at the newly opened Yellowknife Aquatics Centre. Special Olympics Board President Jane Arychuk and Vice-President/Fundraising Chair Cecile Beemer were on deck to see a record breaking 404 chicks thrown into the lane pool. Special Olympics NWT swim athletes and volunteers retrieved all chicks with the final 14 chicks remaining in the water serving as the prize winners.
A grand total of $7465.68 was raised, made possible by not only local business prize donors but also the generosity of community members purchasing tickets. Grand prize winner and Special Olympics NWT parent Haley Mathisen, donated 50% of her $1000.00 grand prize back to our chapter.
Special Olympics NWT provides all sport programming across 9 programs to over 55 athletes, free of charge! Free programming is only made possible by the direct funds raised by events including the annual Pick-a-Chick raffle.
