When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

2012. A team manager from a non-SO sport put out a call looking for volunteers for different sports. I chose curling.

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?

Yes.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?

I have watched this team for many years and I am excited and proud to do my part to help them achieve their goals.

What is/are your goal(s) for these National Games?

A positive game’s experience that hopefully results in gold.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

The smiles on the Delta team when they won bronze in Vernon.

What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)

Being from Delta and helping Burnaby and knowing how hard they have worked to get there, I am sure they are very excited. We have two Delta athletes joining them and I know they are also very excited.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

I can only tell them of the positive experience that it has been for me and how it has enriched my life and hopefully how it enriches the lives of the athletes.
