When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I got involved with Special Olympics in 2019. I've grown up with individuals with cognitive disabilities and wanted to help others. I have been skiing since I was three and ski raced for four years.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
Yes, this will be my first National Games. I feel honoured to be a part of the Next Gen coaching program for the 2024 National Games and I am very excited for this opportunity.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?
I am very excited and honoured to be a part of SO Team BC. I am looking forward to learning as much as possible from other coaches and athletes to prepare me for future opportunities with Special Olympics. I feel really fortunate to be able to be a part of the athletes' journeys and helping them achieve their goals.
What is/are your goal(s) for these National Games?
My hope as a coach is to work with our team and make the National Games a memorable experience for everyone.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Being a part of the 2023 SOBC Provincial Games in Kamloops was very rewarding. I will never forgot my first Provincial Games. I loved every moment!
What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)
My athletes are very excited to be going to National Games. They have been working hard and are excited to compete at the next level.
What storylines are you excited to see develop in your SO Team BC sport team leading up to the National Games?
I am looking forward to seeing the athletes' outcomes at National Games with all their hard work and training they have been doing to prepare for Nationals.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
I would tell them to come out and try it, they will love it and they will be excited to come back every week!! I did and love it!
