When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I got involved nine years ago when a friend introduced me to it.
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
This will be my third time going to National games. I went to the Antigonish 2018 Summer National Games in Nova Scotia for track and then to Thunder Bay Ontario for the 2020 Winter National Games for speed skating.
What were your results in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
I was very proud of my results, I won gold medals in the 777m, 1000m, and 1500m races and a silver medal in the relay with my team.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?
Being a part of SO Team BC is an amazing opportunity for me. I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent B.C. in my favourite sport.
What is your goal for these National Games?
My goals for National Games are to do my best on and off the ice, train hard, achieve personal bests, and have a second chance at being chosen to represent Canada for the World Games in Italy. And to have fun!
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
I'm very proud to be representing B.C. at the national level. It means I get the opportunity to race with other skaters across Canada and I hope to bring home gold for my province and team.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
What I love about my sport is getting to skate on the ice, feeling the cool breeze across my face and how it makes me feel so happy, there's no feeling like it!
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
I would tell them it’s a great way to keep active, meet new friends and try new sports. I found Speed skating through Special Olympics and maybe they’ll find a sport they love too.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I love animals and I am also a Pet Groomer Technician. I have 2 cats. I also enjoy animation, art, video games, science fiction, and watching shows and movies with friends and walks in the forest. I’m a vegetarian and my favourite colour is orange I also have an identical, twin brother who is also on the SO Team BC training squad for speed skating.
