When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
Joined Special Olympics in 1993, 30 years ago, in Quesnel. Started with 5-pin bowling.Â
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
No, this will be my third National Games. The first National Games was in Vancouver in 2014 for 5-pin bowling. The second was in Cornerbrook in winter 2016 for cross country skiing.Â
What were your results in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
Snowshoe results at Provincial Games: 100 metre â third place, 200 metre â second place, 400 metre â second place and first in the 4x100 metre relay. I feel pretty good, but know that I can do better because I want to improve my results. I will do this by training and competing harder.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?
It's an honour and privilege to be a part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024. Especially everyone in the snowshoeing group, as it's a very awesome team.
What is your goal for these National Games?
To improve my performance in Provincial Games.
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
It allows me to test my competitiveness against other athletes from other provinces. My competitiveness is high and strong.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
 Snowshoeing allows me to try something different. It allows me to race outside and enjoy the fresh air.
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
I would tell them it's a lot of fun and you're going to meet a lot of interesting people.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I'm very hardworking and very dedicated to everything I do (work, sports, friends, family).
