When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

When entering high school seven years ago, everyone’s perceptions had changed. No one stayed the person they truly were. Instead, they turned into someone that they were not. For me, that was not an option. Before being pulled out to be homeschooled, I had been drawn to something I had never experienced before, having changed my life dramatically. This was Special Olympics. I just loved the atmosphere, there was no judgments or weird impressions. Just cool, fun and generous human beings wanting to play Canada’s great game! ?

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

The 2016 National Games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, was my first taste of the Canadian competition in floor hockey. We finished second. This year we are coming for redemption in Thunder Bay to take home some gold hardware.  ? ?

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

In my six years of playing Special Olympics floor hockey, this was one of our best Provincial Winter Games appearances yet. Having crushed our competition, I felt splendid of my performance (still more coming! ?).

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

To me, it means being part of the most beautiful, strongest and sustained province in Canada to achieve what’s rightfully ours. This is OUR time to shine. ☀️ ?

What is your goal for these National Games?

EVERYONE'S goal is to win the gold medal (obviously ?). The ultimate goals I've set out are to be able to properly mentor my fellow teammates on and off the court, exemplifying a dominant leadership role throughout our 2020 campaign run for gold.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

Working hard, playing hard, and taking our redemption knowing from our previous mistakes and outcome of 2016 National Games.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

When I score, people remember me as “The Greater One.” 9️⃣9️⃣ ?

The friends I got for teammates are good too. ??

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

2016 National Games. This next one should top it ???

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

Always be yourself, work your butt off, and enjoy the experience!

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I’m also a personal trainer, an early childhood professional, and an entrepreneur. ?

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)
