When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I was one in the group of athletes enrolled when Dawson Creek programs started up. I can't remember the date but some in late 80's or early 90's I think.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

This will be my third National Games. My first was in 1994, I believe I did cross country skiing. In P.E.I. in 2018, I did 5-pin bowling after a last-minute change for a teammate. This time I am doing 5-pin bowling again.

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

My team won gold. The whole team did well. I improved a little from my last Games. The team tries to improve each time we play. I am quite proud of my team.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

To do my best for my bowling team and for Team BC. I want to show off our skills and pride for B.C. and to have fun with everyone at the Games.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To do my best to help my team hopefully win a gold medal. If not a medal, then the best that we can but a gold medal is the main goal. :)

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

It lets me see where my skills are against other top athletes in my sport, and where I have to improve. I also get to visit new places that I never been before and meet new people.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

Competition with other athletes and doing my best and trying to improve from my last games.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

Going to the Games in P.E.I. I had never been on the East Coast before. It was fun to see new things.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

It is fun. You meet good people and you get to travel to different places.

What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?

I do powerlifting, 5-pin bowling and I started 10-pin bowling this year. I have also done some curling. I would do cross country skiing if there was a coach, but I still ski once in a while. I did a couple of others but there's no coach for them right now like floor hockey and soccer.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I like to compete against others and I have fun doing it. I am more for meeting people through competition than at dances. The music is usually too loud for me.

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)

Competitive.
