When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

12 years ago I started with softball then moved to basketball, soccer, and track and field. Now its Club Fit, alpine skiing, and basketball.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

This will be my third National Games. I participated in the 2014 & 2018 National Summer Games for basketball. In 2014 we won GOLD for basketball and in 2018 we won silver. 2020 will be my first National Winter Games.

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I won a bronze medal in giant slalom, silver in super-G, and GOLD in slalom!!!!! This was my FIRST Provincial Winter Games and I was really proud of myself.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

It is so cool to be part of Team BC.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To do the best that I can.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

The people I work with are impressed that, as a person with a disability, I am able to compete at a national level and represent B.C. in alpine skiing.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

That all skiers are cool!

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

Stepping into the Atlantic Ocean with Team BC in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, during the National Games in 2018.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

At Special Olympics I have made a lot of friends. I have learned about who I am and what I can do! My coaches and teammates always tell me that I did a great job or good work and we are like brothers and sisters.

What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?

Club Fit and basketball.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

At work, I use a pressure washer to wash ocean containers. I am also certified to operate forklifts and a power sweeper

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)

Good.
