When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

In 1999 I joined Special Olympics. I participated in the swimming and figure skating programs.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

This will be my fifth National Winter Games and I have also competed in three National Summer Games.

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I won a gold medal in Ladies Level 5 and a gold medal in Ladies Dance Level 3. I enjoyed my performance and I felt focused and calm.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

I am excited to compete at that level and am excited to meet all the athletes. Some I have known for many years and some I will meet for the first time.

What is your goal for these National Games?

I am hoping to have my very best performance on that day and win a medal.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

I like it because I get to compete with the best athletes in Canada and hopefully make new friends.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I like expressing myself through music and especially doing a spiral.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

Winning two gold medals in my first Special Olympics World Games in Nagano Japan in 2005. I was very emotional.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

Joining Special Olympics helps you make new friends, become very disciplined and travel to many wonderful places.

What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?

Rhythmic gymnastics, golf, and basketball.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I am very grateful to the coaches that have dedicated hundreds of hours so that I can achieve all that I have.

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)

A good sport.
