New look – same premium experience and same life-changing impact for people with intellectual disabilities throughout our province!
The annual golf tournament that makes a difference for athletes with intellectual disabilities is now known as the Special Olympics BC Classic. While it’s sporting a new name, the tournament remains committed to giving supporters the finest on-course experience and the chance to change lives through the power and joy of sport.
The 2022 Special Olympics BC Classic will tee off on June 21 at Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club.
Too often, people with intellectual disabilities are forgotten and left behind by our society, and the pandemic intensified their isolation. The 2022 Special Olympics BC Classic will be your opportunity to support the athletes who rely on Special Olympics for sport, health, skill building, and most of all, friendships.
Golfers will be treated to a top-quality experience, with the finest in food, tee gifts, and unforgettable experiences with Special Olympics athletes. After a day of play and on-course activities, an evening wrap party will bring together the teams to award prizes, check out the live and silent auctions, and learn how they are changing lives by supporting Special Olympics BC’s year-round sport, youth, and health programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics BC volunteers, athletes, and supporters around the province are currently working hard to reopen their in-person programs, with strong SOBC safety protocols in place. But we’re only about a third of the way back to our usual capacity to change lives.
The pandemic has had a long-lasting, far-reaching impact on athletes with intellectual disabilities, who were already far too familiar with the pain of isolation, and on Special Olympics BC. More than ever, we need your support to rebuild all of our year-round, in-person sport programs that create empowering connections, open hearts and minds to inclusion, and break down barriers.
