Pledge respect on March 7!
The word “retard” has been used in a hateful way to belittle many of the one million Canadians living with an intellectual disability.
Help us raise awareness to eliminate the derogatory use of the r-word from everyday speech and promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
On March 7, Special Olympics globally will start the conversation to end the r-word and ask everyone to pledge respect to end the use of the word. In Canada, our national not-for-profit partner, motionball, will call on all Canadians to think twice before using the R-word with the hashtag #NoGoodWay with support from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
Be a voice of inclusion and stand up to bullying! Pledge to use respectful, people-first language.
