Team Sask at Opening Ceremonies

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI - The Prairies have hit Prince Edward Island, as Team Saskatchewan’s bowlers have struck some gold early.

25 Athletes and coaches from Saskatchewan braved the time and climate changes, taking part in the opening ceremonies before heading into action at the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Bowling Championships in Charlottetown.

10 Pin competition proved to be a success for bowlers Mitchell Anderson, Richard Dolan, Dawn Rieben and Donna Shulan as their combined score of 1587 scored the foursome the first gold medals of the Championships.  The opposition came to play, as Team Ontario was just 12 points behind at 1575, and one of the two Quebec 10-Pin teams took bronze with 1542.

Athletes will continue to compete in 5-Pin Match Play and 5-Pin Individual, as well as 10-Pin Doubles.  Current standings can be found at www.specialolympics.ca/2018-bowling/results
