Athlete Leadership sees four athletes trained

Eric and Tyler work on their speech

Four athletes from three communities successfully completed different pillars the Athlete Leadership program. The weekend was a huge success filled with lots of laughter and learning.

Angelica Finney and Tyler Servent-Piercy from Humboldt and Swift Current, respectively, spent their weekend in the Athlete Speaker Training Classroom. Together with their mentors, they learned the ins and outs of writing, preparing for and delivering a speech! The duo finished off the weekend by delivering the speech they delivered to the entire group. Both did a fantastic job and have so much to be proud of.

Across the hall, Jenita Dickie from Swift Current and Terry Livingstone from Regina were trained in media and social media. Learning from the best, John Tokar; social media for athletes guru, the athletes learned about social media and proper protocol online! Day two saw media training, where athletes were given chance to learn about other types of media and how to give an interview. In front of the crowd, both Jenita and Terry practically applied all their knowledge by being interviewed by faux media.

Overall it was a great weekend and we can't wait to see how each athlete uses their training to grow in their personal, professional, and sport lives!
