FANS GIVEN CHANCE TO PLAY ON MOSAIC STADIUM FIELD IN SUPPORT OF SPECIAL OLYMPICS SASKATCHEWAN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 7, 2018

Queen City Blitz to hold Inaugural Flag Football Tournament on the Home Field of the Saskatchewan Roughriders

On June 23, football fans and players of all skills and abilities are being welcomed to participate in a flag football tournament to be held on the field at Mosaic Stadium. Participants 16 and older are asked to register as individuals or as a team at www.qcblitz.ca. There are minimum fundraising requirements, with a team of 10 only required to raise $100/player. In the spirit of Special Olympics and the commitment to inclusion, each team is guaranteed to play a minimum of four games each, on a quarter section of the Mosaic Stadium field. Lunch will also be provided courtesy of Western Pizza, and prizes and incentives to be announced shortly.

The event will be hosted by Special Olympics Committee Member and known Regina Broadcaster and Personality, Mike McGuire. “I can’t even imagine that it’s going to feel like for fans of all skills and abilities to hit that field at Mosaic Stadium. The best part of all is that the Queen City Blitz not only gives football fans the chance to live a dream, but they do it to support Special Olympics Saskatchewan, which in addition to providing means and support of their athletes, also focuses on making dreams come true.”

Members of the current and past Saskatchewan Roughriders are also going to be in attendance, as well as the Rider Cheer Team and several Special Olympics Saskatchewan athletes – many of whom have recently won National and International Championships.
