MEDIA RELEASE: Special Olympics Alberta Unveils the New Team Alberta 2016 Logo

EDMONTON, April 25, 2015- Special Olympics Alberta is proud to unveil the logo that will represent the members of Special Olympics Team Alberta.

“With the Team Alberta selections in it’s final selection process, I know that having a strong logo to represent the team will only solidify our athletes’ commitment and ignite their excitement, ” says Jill Mattson, Special Olympics Team Alberta Chef de Mission.

“Our logo truly represents the diverse talent we have in our province. They are driven and committed individuals who want to train all year round in their hometowns to prepare for the 2016 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games .”

The Team Alberta logo captures the spirit and identity of Special Olympics Alberta athletes who know no limits of their ability as their potential can reach the peaks of our great Canadian Rockies. The team shares the dynamic energy of all Special Olympics athletes they represent in the Alberta which is represented in the Alberta curve while the multiple hues of blue represent athletes from across the province as unique and different, but blend together in perfect unison as a team.

More than 800 Special Olympics athletes and coaches from across Canada will show their talent and abilities at the 2016 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland from March 1 to 5, 2016 and will compete in seven winter sports: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, floor hockey, snowshoeing and speed skating. “This is the first time that National Games will be held in Newfoundland and Labrador and we want to be sure that Alberta has a strong presence and image that reflects our commitment and pride,” says Mattson.
