2017 Final Leg for Summer Games

On July 7th Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Alberta will be bringing the Flame of Hope into the Opening Ceremonies of the 2017 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games in Medicine Hat.  The run will commence at the World’s Largest Teepee (15 Eagle Birth Rd SW) at 5:00 pm and the Opening Ceremonies commence at 7:00 pm. Participants will need to be in Medicine Hat for community visits throughout the day on Friday.

The tradition of the Final Leg Torch Run is for law enforcement officers, representing their communities, to act as “Guardians of the Flame” and carry the Special Olympics Torch and “Flame of Hope” to officially start the 2017 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games in Medicine Hat.

The 2017 Final Leg Torch Run was kicked off at the Alberta Legislature building on May 16 which ignited events across Alberta.  Law Enforcement members in Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Strathcona County, Camrose, Lethbridge and Red Deer all took part in Torch Runs.  These runs culminate in Medicine Hat where the Torch will be carried into the Opening Ceremonies of the 2017 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games.  Athletes from across the province will be cheering on our Law Enforcement community in appreciation for their ongoing support!
